AAMI Park Melbourne
AAMI Park, also called Melbourne Rectangular Stadium during its construction, is one of the Victorian capital's main sporting venues. Open in 2010 as Melbourne's first purpose-built rectangular stadium, it was built to accommodate soccer, rugby league and rugby union games, but has also hosted concerts for international artists, such as the Foo Fighters, Bruce Springsteen, Ed Sheeran and Taylor Swift.
AAMI Park was built on the Edwin Flack field, inside Melbourne Olympic Park, and features a very distinctive architecture, surrounded with a geodesic dome roof, which is illuminated at night and can be seen from all around Melbourne. With a seating capacity of 30,000, it is home to the NRL team Melbourne Storm, Super Rugby team Melbourne Rebels, and the soccer A-League teams Melbourne Victory FC and Melbourne City FC.
The stadium was one of the venues used to host the 2015 AFC Asian Cup and was also used during the 2017 Rugby League World Cup. AAMI Park is within walking distance from Melbourne's CBD, and is connected to the city's tram and train networks for easy access.
